Recruitment and Selection
Typically, Macmahon recruiters will:
Acknowledge your application
Macmahon will send you an email confirming receipt of your application. Please note, if you submit an incomplete application, it may not be considered.
Initial Interview
If your application meets the selection criteria you may be contacted for an initial interview. This interview may be conducted by phone or face to face so we can learn a little more about you, describe the requirements of the position and outline the selection process in more detail.
This initial stage also gives you an opportunity to find out more about Macmahon and the intended work location.
Behavioural Interviews
If you progress to the next stage, you may be invited to attend one or more structured interviews. These interviews take between 45 minutes to one hour.
Before the interview, we will discuss details regarding your interviewers, the interview process and where your interview will be held, as well as any special needs you may have.
During the behavioural interview, you will be asked to give examples of situations that demonstrate your knowledge, skills and experiences.
Further Testing/Assessment
For some roles, you will be asked to undertake further assessment, i.e. psychometric testing (eg ability tests) or pre-employment medicals.
Macmahon will let you know more at the interview stage. Please feel free to talk to the recruiter if you are unclear about anything.
Reference Checking
In your application, you must provide contact details for at least three professional referees who can confirm your experience.
Please advise your referees that they may be contacted to comment on your skills and experience during the time you worked with them. Typically, your referees will be current or recent supervisors or managers, who have observed your abilities in the work environment.
Verbal Offer/ Formal Offer
If successful, you will be made an offer explaining, in detail, the package being offered. Usually this is done verbally with the formal letter of appointment following. You will need to sign this letter and return it to us to confirm your employment.
