The project:
Work involves all limestone mining activities at Lafarge's Lhoknga cement plant.
The plant is about 17km from Banda Aceh, on the north-west coast of Sumatra. This area suffered serious devastation from the December 2004 tsunami. While most of the town has been rebuilt, some remnants of the tsunami remain.
Scope of work:
This project is for the drill, blast and mining of limestone to supply the region’s largest cement manufacturing plant. Work also includes the construction of haul roads for use by mining trucks.
