Extension of rail contract

Macmahon Holdings Limited (ASX: MAH) announced today that as an alliance consortium member, it has been awarded an approximate $50 million share of a $112 million contract extension by the NSW Government.

The extension is for a package of works within the Glenfield Transport Interchange (GTI), located in Sydney’s western suburbs.

The contract extension will see the alliance team construct the Southern Flyover as part of the GTI development, in partnership with the Transport Infrastructure Development Corporation (TIDC).

The project will start immediately and is scheduled for completion in 2013.

The alliance team has been working on the interchange since 2008, with the initial contract for the northern section of the project.

Macmahon Chief Executive Officer Nick Bowen said the contract extension demonstrated the success of the alliance and the strong working relationship forged with TIDC.

“Having worked in partnership with TIDC to deliver the initial northern package of the interchange project, we are very pleased to continue our relationship on the southern component,” he said.

The alliance is made up of TIDC, Macmahon and its subsidiary MVM Rail, French construction group Bouygues and Parsons Brinckerhoff.
