Celebrating our trades apprentices

We are thrilled to announce the graduation of our talented trades apprentices at the Camfield earlier this month.

With a range of disciplines to study, these Heavy Diesel Mechanics, Auto Electricians and Boilermakers know that we have high expectations for them to be the best tradespeople in the business.  We have been impressed by the dedication and commitment shown by this group of enthusiastic maintenance apprentices, as well as the unwavering support provided by their families to help them achieve their goals.

We would like to extend a big congratulations to Alfie Turrell, Auto Electrician, who was awarded the coveted Apprentice of the Year award by Michael Finnegan. Alfie’s conscientious efforts for his training and work, along with his involvement in fabricating training simulators for our apprentices and tradespeople, make him a true standout. Alfie was also recognised as Apprentice of the Year for his 3rd year, and he continues to demonstrate a passion for his trade. Well done, Alfie!

We would also like to recognise Ethan McCabe, Heavy Diesel Mechanic, who received the Top Apprentice – 1st Year Award from Bryden Murie. Ethan’s initiative and embodiment of Macmahon’s values have been key attributes to his success as a 1st-year apprentice. Congratulations, Ethan, and keep up the great work and focus!

We are also proud to announce Declan Duncan and Rael Curtin as the recipients of the Top Apprentice awards for 2nd and 3rd years, respectively. While they were unable to attend the event, we would like to acknowledge their outstanding achievements.

Declan Duncan, Boilermaker, displays exceptional knowledge and lives up to Macmahon’s values. As a 3rd Year Apprentice, he is now getting ready for site deployment, and any site would be lucky to have him as a valuable team member.

Rael Curtin, Auto Electrician, shows remarkable initiative in applying his job knowledge and performance as a tradesperson and has proven that he embodies Macmahon’s values.

Finally, the award for the Top Dual Trade Apprentice Award was presented to Auto Electrician Jayden Daniels by Chris Clifton. Jayden has worked for Macmahon for several years since graduating as a HD Mechanic and has shown great promise in his career working in Components, the Heavy Earth Rebuild Section, and Surface and Underground operations. Jayden is highly regarded across all Macmahon operations, and we are proud to have him as a member of our team. Well done, Jayden!

Congratulations once again to all of our maintenance apprentices. We’d also like to thank Michael Finnegan, Bryden Murie and Chris Clifton for their leadership and support in attending the ceremony to present the awards and particularly, Mike Azzaro, Apprentice Master, for his knowledge and expertise in leading Macmahon’s apprenticeship program.

We also welcomed our latest cohort of Apprentices to Macmahon and wish them all the best on their learning journey and careers at Macmahon.

We’re also always on the lookout for first-class HD Mechanic Fitters, check out our jobs here.
