Ison Road Project
Ahead of schedule and helping shape Melbourne’s west

On 6 May, Victorian Minister for Transport Infrastructure Gabrielle Williams visited the Ison Road Project alongside John Lister and Joanne Ryan to announce the early opening of the Ison Road overpass and extension.

Delivered by our Decmil East team, the new connection will now open in September 2026, three months ahead of schedule.

Since commencing works in late 2023, the team has delivered a four-lane overpass across the Melbourne-Geelong rail line, along with new walking and cycling infrastructure designed to improve connectivity and safety for the growing Werribee community. In January 2024, Decmil East was also awarded the contract to construct the connecting extension road to the Princes Freeway.

The project is expected to support more than 29,000 daily journeys by 2036 and will play an important role in reducing congestion and improving travel reliability across Melbourne’s west.”

We’re proud of the collaboration, capability and commitment shown by everyone involved in delivering this major civil infrastructure project.
