Troy joined Macmahon in January 2000 as a Supervisor – Processing in the Civil business before transitioning to Mining in 2008. Over the years, he has worked across multiple Macmahon sites, including Mt Magnet, Nifty Copper Mine, Orebody 18, Jimblebar, and Tropicana. Since 2014, Tropicana has been his home base, where he has taken on a variety of roles, most recently stepping into his current position as Consumables Controller – Drill & Blast.

Reflecting on his career, Troy attributes his success to the incredible people he has worked with and the diverse opportunities Macmahon has provided.

The variety of roles I’ve taken on has kept my work both challenging and rewarding. My success comes from a strong work ethic, an old-school mentality, staying open-minded, and building strong connections while keeping focused on my goals.”

Troy’s impact on those around him is evident in the respect and admiration of his colleagues.

Michael Rayce, Troy’s supervisor, shared “Fish has a great, positive, and friendly personality—even when he’s under the pump. He came into Drill & Blast as a consumables controller, a role he had to learn from scratch, and he has quickly picked it up. He’s a valued member of the team and an absolute pleasure to work with. Congratulations on 25 years, mate!”

His crew mates also spoke highly of him. Paul Tildsley said…

I started working with Troy in 2016 as part of the projects team, and I credit him for where I am today. He always displays strong leadership and shares his vast knowledge from half a lifetime in mining. I wish him all the best—but hopefully not another 25 years!”

Tony Almeida also shared that he  met Troy back in 2007 at Orebody 18. “He was one of the first guys I worked with, and we’ve always gotten along well. He’s great at giving advice and helping new people transition to site—straightforward, honest, and easy to get on with.”

Over the past 25 years, Troy has seen Macmahon evolve and grow—and he’s grown with it. His journey is a reminder that with dedication, adaptability, and a willingness to learn, there’s always room to progress and make an impact.

Congratulations, Troy, on this incredible milestone!
