Tropicana Gold Mine

Macmahon was awarded a Life of Mine contract for surface mining at the Tropicana Gold Project in July 2012. The project is operated under a joint venture between AngloGold Ashanti Australia Pty Ltd (70%) and Regis Resources (30%). Since commencement, the scope has expanded to include both open-cut and underground mining operations.
Located approximately 330 kilometres northeast of Kalgoorlie on the edge of Western Australia’s Great Victoria Desert, Macmahon’s responsibilities encompass mine planning, drilling and blasting, load and haul, crusher feed, and associated works.
To deliver optimal performance, Macmahon has made significant investments in mining fleet, ancillary equipment, infrastructure, and workforce development. The fleet includes CAT 789 and 793 haul trucks, 600-tonne and 400-tonne excavators, and SKF15 drills. A dedicated workforce of more than 450 personnel supports the project’s success.
Macmahon works closely with AngloGold Ashanti to promote Indigenous subcontracting and employment opportunities, reinforcing our commitment to creating positive outcomes for local communities.
