MACA Cancer 200 (Ride for Research)
Fundraising – Macmahon has partnered with The Harry Perkins Institute of Medical Research (The Perkins) for a number of years and each year, we proudly participate in their annual 200km bike ride in WA from Perth to Mandurah.
Our team of riders has increased each year as has the amount of funds raised. In 2019, Macmahon participated with 49 riders, including team members from our Indonesian operations, and raised $234,729. The ride provides a fantastic opportunity for our people to come together as a team as well as exposing them to the important and rewarding act of charitable giving.
All monies raised provide The Perkins with the financial support they need to continue their efforts finding cures for hard to treat cancers which positively impact society on a global scale.
Kambalda Football Club
Regional grassroots sport – Macmahon understands that sport plays an important role in rural, regional and remote Australia.
It can bring regional communities together and supports improved mental and physical health. Macmahon proudly sponsor the Amateur Kambalda Football Team who play in the Goldfields Football League in Western Australia.
QCoal Foundation
Regional community support – Macmahon has a three-year commitment to partner with QCoal Foundation to deliver programs and partnerships that enhance the resilience of rural and regional Queensland communities.
These include telepractice support for students with hearing loss through the Retain program, an annual Scholarship for students from rural and regional areas and grants for health, education and liveability programs.
These are additional to QCoal Foundation’s role as Founding Donor of the RFDS Dental Service and the Ca$hEdUP financial resilience program.
Perth Football Club (School Clinics)
Community sports – Macmahon is partnering with the Perth Football Club to enable school aged children in WA to participate in a program to help promote healthy lifestyle choices providing happier, healthier and more motivated students.
The Perkins Donation
COVID-19 response – Mark Hatfield, General Manager for Plant & Maintenance, and first year apprentice Tom Hum, delivered boxes of protective masks and industrial cleaning products to Mo from the Perkins.
These products were sourced through Macmahon’s supply chain and will go to immediate use in their labs and clinics to assist in their day to day medical research.
Face Your Fears (Concert Series)
Mental health – As part of Macmahon’s award winning mental and physical health program, Strong Minds, Strong Mines, our Mental Health Ambassador, Soa Palelei, hosted a series of weekly online music concerts for FIFO workers and their families to help break the monotony of isolation and working away at a particularly difficult time.

Lombok Earthquakes
Emergency Response – As a result of existing strong community relations, Macmahon provided assistance to those communities affected by the Lombok earthquakes from our nearest open cut copper/gold site in Sumbawa, Batu Hijau.
We provided emergency response teams to administer first aid along with critical blood donations to bolster the short supply of first responders and the hospital's blood supplies.
Pantai Pulau Merah Clean Up
Environment / Prosperity Project – We engaged with local community to reduce waste and improve waste storage via education on the use of plastic packaging.
Improving the local environment and increasing attraction for tourism to increase the local community’s income close to our underground gold/copper operation in East Java, Tujuh Bukit.
