Through our Strong Minds, Strong Mines program, we are creating meaningful and lasting change by raising awareness, encouraging open conversations and providing practical tools that help build mentally healthy workplaces.
Supporting wellbeing is recognised as key to our employee’s experience at Macmahon. We are committed to creating an environment where people feel supported, valued and able to thrive, both at work and in their personal lives.”
Strong Minds, Strong Mines bring this commitment to life by fostering a culture where mental wellbeing is prioritised and asking for help is encouraged.
Now in its seventh year, the comprehensive eight-month program continues to strengthen mental health literacy, reduce stigma and build resilience across the resources sector. Delivered across Macmahon and the broader mining and resources industry, the program reflects our long-standing commitment to improving mental wellbeing and creating safer, more supportive workplaces.
During the year, the program visited 17 project sites across Australia, delivering 53 presentations to more than 2,100 employees and contractors.”
Ongoing support was also provided to our network of 66 Wellbeing Champions, equipping them to continue leading conversations, supporting their colleagues and fostering workplaces where people feel safe to speak up and seek help.
Participant feedback continues to demonstrate the program’s positive impact, with post-program surveys showing increased confidence to start conversations about mental health, greater willingness to seek support when needed and a stronger understanding of how to recognise and respond to signs of mental ill-health in themselves and others.
The program’s impact was further recognised nationally when Strong Minds, Strong Mines received the 2026 Australian Mental Health Award for Best Practice in the Workplace at the National Mental Health Awards, acknowledging its contribution to creating healthier, safer and more supportive workplaces across the Australian resources industry.
