After being made redundant from BHP in late 2013, Annabel applied for an administration role in 2014. What began as a two-week temporary position, quickly turned into a long-term career. Over the past decade, Annabel has progressed through a range of roles including All Round Administrator, Site Administrator, Dump Truck Operator, and now Senior MineStar Controller at the Tropicana Gold Mine. Her journey has been shaped by her willingness to step up, learn, and embrace new challenges.
I’ve always tried to put my hand up for opportunities, learn as much as I can, and support the team wherever needed.”
“Now working in Mine Control, Annabel plays a key role in ensuring accurate data, efficient fleet utilisation, and real-time decision-making. The data we manage feeds directly into reporting, production targets, and business planning, so ensuring its accuracy is critical.”
What keeps her motivated is the fast-paced and everchanging nature of the role.
The best thing about my job is that no two days are the same – it keeps you engaged and constantly learning.”
Reflecting on her milestone, Annabel is grateful for the journey and encourages others to take the leap. “My first role was only for a two-week position, and now 10+ years later I’m still here. If you’re willing to work hard and take opportunities, it’s a great place to build a career.” As she celebrates 10 years, Annabel looks forward to continuing her growth while building a strong future for herself and her family.
