Nicholas joined Macmahon as a conventional apprentice and recently graduated as a qualified HD Fitter. He describes the company in three words: supportive, versatile, resourceful.
“The people make it really, a family away from family, and they’re just really supportive.”
The proudest moment of his career so far is the one that signals how much he’s grown.
“I’m most proud of finishing my apprenticeship six months early. It really shows the dedication the company sees that I can achieve something.”
Nicholas is the first to admit he wasn’t always this confident. At the start of his apprenticeship he was skittish, even a bit nervous on site. Growing alongside the leadership team is what changed that.
“I’ve definitely grown more confident in my role. I was quite skittish and scared at the start, but I’ve grown with the leadership team along the way.”
His advice to anyone starting out is to keep saying yes.
“Just say yes to every opportunity. You don’t know where it’s going to lead, but the opportunities that come from it are endless.”
Nicholas’s story reflects Macmahon’s commitment to apprentices and tradespeople – the support, the structure, and the chance to power up your career one opportunity at a time.
