We are focussed on keeping our people safe and well, maintaining safe and reliable operations, and supporting our local communities.
We have taken the advice of government and health officials to implement some new measures including:
Social Distancing
All of our corporate staff are now working remotely to reduce unnecessary contact, using technology to keep the team connected and fully operational.
On sites we are staggering shift start times to reduce the number of people at pre-start meetings, and adjusting rosters wherever possible to reduce the number of people travelling to site or reduce the overlap between crews.
Employee Support
Where some of our employees are based out of state or country we are providing accommodation alternatives to enable them to remain at the same site. Alternatively, we are offering relocation options to employees where possible to work within the same state that they reside to avoid unnecessary travel.
Macmahon is also providing financial assistance to some workers.
Our Strong Minds, Strong Mines Mental and Physical Health program continues to support our workforce with increased communications and access to online physical health programs for employees and families.
Health Measures
We have taken steps to increase hygiene across all our operations.
We are temperature screening employees pre-flight for our fly in / fly out operations, as well as at points of entry to some of our sites.
We are identifying high-risk members of our workforce and supporting them to ensure their risk of exposure is minimised. Any at risk workers will be provided with an individual health plan directly managed by our Company Doctor.
Fatigue Management
We have taken additional measures to manage the risks associated with fatigue including providing additional break times.
Travel Bans
We have introduced a total ban on international travel for business and a ban on non-essential domestic travel.
We are strongly encouraging our employees to defer personal travel, both domestic and international.
In addition, employees and contractors who return from personal international travel will be excluded from the workforce for 14 days and those returning from domestic travel are required to self-monitor for 14 days.
Supporting Our Communities
We are supporting our neighbour and important charity, Foodbank, to help supply much needed meals to people without food.
Laptop computers are being donated to various charitable organisations to enable their employees to work from home and continue their important community support work.
Our operations require sanitation supplies which we are sourcing through our own supply networks to avoid putting unnecessary strain on our medical system and are wherever there is oversupply we are donating to hospitals including St John of God in Western Australia, The Harry Perkins Institute for Medical Research and Ramsey Health Care in Indonesia.
Supporting Our Suppliers
We are engaging with our suppliers to understand the impact on their businesses and working with them to help mitigate these where we can. This includes fast-tracking payments on a case-by-case basis.
We are providing frequent and regular updates to our workforce and aligning our actions and behaviours with advice from governments and health authorities.
As we navigate the current climate and challenges ahead, we are comforted by our shared values, in particular teamwork, where Macmahon’s workforce is working as one team across our global operations to ensure we all continue to prosper in a healthy and safe state in the times ahead.
