Now that you’ve done the hard work and completed your engineering degree, it’s time to embark on a challenging and rewarding future in mining with Macmahon. As a Registered Training Organisation, we’re committed to growing our own talent through our graduate mining program for engineers.
Currently, we have 32 graduates in our business, with 6 new starters joining us from all over the world. Our graduates come from diverse backgrounds, hailing from Indonesia, Singapore, and even Colombia. They’re all classed as Mining Engineers, along with one Chemical Engineer.
The program is designed to help you gain practical experience and develop technical expertise. Depending on the area of focus, the program length ranges from 2 to 3 years. During this time, you’ll have the opportunity to rotate through various operational roles, gain experience in engineering planning and design, and participate in commercial and supervision rotations.
Throughout the program, Macmahon offers a comprehensive support system, connecting graduates with leaders and engineers across the business to help them succeed. We also enrol our graduates in a learning program with Engineers Australia, which runs for 18 months and includes formal learning modules, eLearning, discussion forums, webinars, and workplace projects.
Graduates even receive Engineers Australia Graduate membership for the duration of the program. Completion of this program supports them towards the competencies required to become chartered, with around 65 hours of CPD.
Throughout the program, you’ll gain exposure to different commodities and client sites, both on the surface and underground. You’ll also have the opportunity to work alongside passionate experienced professionals who you can learn from along the way.
By the time the program ends, it’s our aim to offer all graduates a full-time position. Of course, individual performance must meet our standards, but we see our graduates as future leaders and specialists in their fields.
