Macmahon’s commitment to professional development gave Hylcia the chance to expand her knowledge through seminars, certifications, and hands-on project experience. Over time, she progressed into the role of Senior TSF and Mine Development Engineer, where she refined her technical expertise, problem-solving skills, and ability to collaborate effectively.
“One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is to stay positive and focus on solutions. Every challenge presents a chance to improve and move forward,” she reflects.
Recognising her interest in the business side of operations, Hylcia expressed a desire to learn more about the tendering process. With the support of her leaders, she was given the opportunity to assist in Macmahon’s Jakarta office, working alongside engineers, project managers, and teams from sites across Indonesia and Australia.
Collaborating with professionals from different backgrounds gave me a deeper understanding of how projects come together. It was one of the most enriching experiences in my career so far.”
Today, Hylcia is the Manager of Civil Construction at the Awak Mas mine site, where she plays a key role in developing the Greenfield project. The unpredictable site conditions and extreme weather present challenges, but they also provide valuable learning experiences.
“Watching an empty landscape transform into a fully operational site is incredibly rewarding. Every milestone feels meaningful because I know our efforts are building something significant,” she says.
Working alongside teams from various Macmahon sites, Hylcia values the exchange of knowledge and shared problem-solving that comes with a large, interconnected team. She believes that being united, facing challenges with courage, and taking pride in the work are key to success.
Beyond her professional achievements, Hylcia credits her family and support network for helping her navigate challenges and celebrate milestones along the way. Their encouragement has strengthened her motivation to keep learning, improving, and taking on new challenges.
She hopes to see Macmahon continue fostering growth and development opportunities, enabling more employees to enhance their skills, embrace challenges, and build fulfilling careers.
