Joseph realised early on in his life that a career in mining was in store for him so he wasted no time in enrolling in university to major in mining.
Since joining the industry, Joseph has found Macmahon to be one of the best things to happen to his career. “The Company really appreciates their employees and provides a vast array of opportunities to further your career,” said Joseph.
“Daryono Labula, Deputy Project Manager and Mick Fisher, President Director have proved to be great mentors to me providing guidance and putting their trust in my capabilities,” shared Joseph.
“Macmahon also kindly sponsored my Pengawas Operasional Madya “POM” which is a certificate from the Indonesian Government for operational supervisory.” POM is the second level after POP and based on Indonesia Government regulation is a mandatory certificate for a supervisory role in Mining and Maintenance in Indonesia.
Joseph enjoys the relationship he has between the group of people at Martabe referring to the brotherhood created on site. “We are a real community and I appreciate the camaraderie that has been developed with the group of people I work with. We even play soccer together with our client to help relieve the day’s stress.”
“I work 20 days on and 10 days off and am grateful to rent a house close to site at Batangtoru so I am able to see my wife and 10 month old daughter every day after work,” said Joseph. “Having breaks of 10 days at a time allows my wife, daughter and I to travel to Berastagi (320 km from Batangtoru) to spend time with our parents, where I like to help out my father on his farm.”
When not working or spending time with his family, Joesph loves to cheer on his favourite soccer team Internazionale Milan (Serie A Italia) and he takes pleasure in painting. It seems painting is Joseph’s hidden talent, having won six competitions in recent years.
