Meet the New Rhino
Raise Bore and Slot Drilling Machine

Underground operations at Macmahon are stepping up a gear with the arrival of our newest piece of technology - the Sandvik Rhino 100 Gen3.2, or simply, the “Rhino.”

Delivered recently to Macmahon and currently onsite at Tropicana, the Rhino is already making its mark, successfully completing its first holes in November.

This state-of-the-art machine adds significant capability to our vertical development and slot rising operations, improving both productivity and safety for our teams.

As part of the rollout, our operators and maintenance crews have completed specialised training, building valuable new skills. The Rhino is designed to enhance working conditions for drillers and outperforms conventional small diameter raise bore machines, making our underground operations safer and more efficient.

Excitingly, this machine is intended to be a mobile asset, so keep your eyes open – you might see the Rhino in action at a site near you soon.”

This is another example of Macmahon investing in technology and our people, giving our teams the tools and skills to stay at the forefront of underground mining.
